Well I made it through my shift yesterday which ended up being much longer than I had anticipated to begin with.
Horsehead(Diane)'s mpm had called her out the night before and then she had her Aunt call at 4:25PM to tell us that she was in the Emergency Room because she was too sick. Her Aunt said that she felt so bad that she couldn't get in to work. What she should feel bad about is the fact that she gets paid as much as she does while we end up doing pretty much all of the work.
All the other counter people had to leave at 9PM since that is when Diane would usually work the counter until close. Well I ended up by myself. I had to do EVERYTHING which includes cashing out ALL of the drivers, ALL of the wait staff (which was 5). That process takes quite a while for each individual...especially drivers. I had to cover all 40 topping bins with platic wrap and put them all away. I had to take everything to the back to be washed. I had to scrape and wash the pizza counter. I had to take all the empty pizza dough tins to the back to be reused. I had to replace everything onto the pizza counter that belongs there for the night. I had to take all of the nozzles off of the soda machine and use a toothbrush to clean inside the heads. I had to scrub that and the sink down and was clean then with Windex. Then I had to count all of the credit card slips for the counter and match it's total with the machine up front, and then count the slips from the back (from the servers) and match the total with the machine in the back. If anything didn't match, I would have had to go through and find the problem. Luckily they all matched.
It ticks me off when these servers talk about how much money they made in the time that they were working that day which is half of what I work on Sundays and they made as much as I did all day. And then they do not adjust a tip on a credit card slip and then I have to go through all of them to find the problem and then fix it and see if they match them or not. They do not tip us or anything so if they mess up, they get all their money for the day which is way more compared to what I made and they make me stay later because they do not adjust their slips which IS part of their jobs to begin with.
I hate working with a bunch of people who just don't seem to care that much at all about the people with whom they work. Sorry. Just had to vent.
Of course, as I was doing all of those chores that I wrote up there, I still had to take phone calls and place orders. I also had to help customers that come in. And all of this had to be done simultaneously!
The funny thing is, even though I would normally have Diane there to take care of what she is supposed to, I got out of there about the same time! Well I got done my duties in the same time which tells you how much she does. I usually have to finish my stuff, finish what she didn't even get to before her ride leaves for the night since she can't drive. And then I have to redo half of what she did because she does her stuff half-assed.
I would have been out about the same time, but my friend from high school and our old baseball team was there. He has worked there as long as I have, but he has been at art school in Philadlephia but he is back for Spring Break to work. He is a graphics design major and I was talking to him about doing graphics for the site that I am developing for the place where I work. Sal set it up so that Boo (that's my friend's nickname at work) could go around with his camera and a tripod and get pictures of everything. The parts will be used in the page design and we will have a gallery section with all of the pictures for people to see how the new addition looks as well as all the other work we have been doing. This all gives me confidence that Sal wants to go through with this project which will hopefully lead to extra money for me.
The good part about last night...well actually 2 good things...were that I didn't have to see, hear, or put up with Horsehead and Sal gave me an addition $20! Usually he gives me $10 added to my salary pay for working a double shift on Sundays...but since I closed alone, he gave me $20 and I also got a free half gallon of iced tea that he normally charged employess a dollar to get so I saved another dollar there and also had something to drink here =0)
In order to move out to western PA with Victoria, I did a whole pay chart to calculate how much money I should have by the time that we plan to move out there. I underestimated how many hours I would work. I wanted to get an idea of the minimum that I would end up with to make it easier to plan because making more would make things easier and I don't want to have to make things more difficult if I didn't underestimate everything. I then added an extra $10 for the one Sunday that I will be doing a double before the time that I am moving out there. I subtracted $100 for the week in April that I will be out there for food and other things and gas and tolls. I also took out some money each week for entertainment (gas, blockbuster videos, food, skating, and maybe a movie or a CD or something to keep me sane for the next week heheh). This amount should be the minimum that I will earn.
I am going to go in earlier than I usually do and do some extra things to stay a bit later and that time will add up as well! So most likely my figures should be higher than I have figured out already, but that is what I wanted =0)
And I will hopefully get money from Sal for the site work when it is completed. I could have it ready by next week depending on what Boo can get to me in the way of graphics before then. This money would obviously help out A LOT. And if I can get this new program finished, I may sell some licenses to it for extra money as well.
I stayed up until 8:30AM counting all my change. This money is from change that I get when I buy things, money I find on the ground, change that I get from the occassional tip that a customer may give me, and some of the servers will give me extra small change. I thank them for pennies. I figure that it's more money that I didn't have to work for and it adds up. I used to have A LOT more money in change, but I had to spend a lot of quarters over time for when I needed to buy something and didn't have cash for it.
But I still came up with One dollar in gold dollar coins, $1.50 in half-dollars, $14.25 in quarters, $31.90 in dimes, $28.95 in nickels, and $27.82 in pennies. This gave me a total of $105.42! I started wrapping what I could. I will ask Sal for some of his coin wrappers and wrap all of the rest of the change. I will then take that to the bank and get cash which I will keep aside with all my paychecks to take out for the apartment and stuff when I get out there.
I have been saving the coins and I can't save them forever and ever and if there is a stopping point to restart them, then this is the time. This is when the money will be quite useful =0)
Well I have to get going because I need to shower and get into work so that I am there earlier than I had planned in my pay chart that I did last night and therefore will end up with more than I thought =0)
I will be back later tonight after work and do all the tons of things I have to do and see what I can write =0)
Have a good evening.
