I apologize again for my lack of updating. I have increased my hours at work and the effects on me are pretty devastating and I am usually too exhausted to type an entry.
It seems that I have had so much to say each evening, but I couldn't lift my fingers to type it all out.
I have been working on the site for the place where I work so that I can hopefully get paid for it. Victoria and I will need the extra money =0)
I changed the name of my design company last night to a more proper name than I originally had. I wanted to change it for quite a while, but didn't get around to it. But since I will be looking for a Web design job in/around Pittsburgh, I want to get my site up to put it on my resume. I have redesigned my site and changed it totally. I will be purchasing hosted server space and a domain name for my site. I had several projects in the past, but I will consider the site for my place of employment to be my first major project. From my site I will sell licenses to the scripts that I write for other webmasters to use. I will also have tutorials for HTML, CSS, and other "languages". And I will of course offer diaryland templates. The ones that I offer on my site will be free, but for $5 (I believe $5 will be the charge unless a layout is required to be VERY difficult..then I may charge more) I will design whatever a person wants for their diary. This is a very modest price for the amount of time that the design process could take =0)
I worked so many hours this past week! Thank God I have off Sunday for easter since my work is closed for the day. I will ask about adding some hours on the phone for a morning or two that I do not work the night shift that day.
This week I worked a 12 hour and 45 minute shift on Sunday. I closed alone which means that I had twice as much work to do to get out and the phones wouldn't stop ringing in order for me to get done what I had to do in order to leave. Monday I worked from 4:15pm until 11:45pm. I talked to my boss about the site that I am designing for his establishment to compare "notes" on what I was thinking of doing as well as what he would like the site to have. I went in on Tuesday morning to answer phones and do other stuff as a favor from 10:20am until 2:30pm. I went home for an hour and a half and then worked from 4:15pm until 11:15pm. And Wednesday night I worked from 4:15pm until 11:15pm again.
I will ask about maybe answering phones in the back on Thursday mornings since I do not work Thursday nights. This will allow me to make some extra money without having to worry about having energy for all night like I did on Tuesday. But if he allows BOTH Tuesday and Thursday, then I may take them both. That would be an extra $50 each week.
On Sunday night, Victoria and I made two different types of salary charts. She planned out how much we would probably make out there even if we got only minimum wage jobs (which I think I should earn more when I get out there) and how much the two of us would earn together per month, and then subtracted the highest possible rent to see how much extra money we would have.
I did a chart to see how much money I would make if I move out there Saturday April 27th. I figured in all the days and hours that I am scheduled in for. I underestimated how many hours I would work each day so that way the amount that I came to would be least amount of money that I should have to move out there. But this week I worked more hours per day and did an extra shift on Tuesday so already I am ahead of what I thought I would have.
That night, I just had to keep going and think of ways to have even more money even though I would have enough with the total that I had gotten after completing the chart. I thought of the big jar of coins that I have. I pick up coins off of the ground. Servers and drivers at work will occasionally "tip" me with some extra change. I thank them even when it's pennies. They add up and I did no work for them beyond what I do to get paid my salary. I sorted them into their denominations and counted ALL of them! I wound up with $107.85 and I have already received more change since I counted. I wrapped as many coins as I could with the wrappers that my mom already had. She went to the bank today to cash her paycheck after work so I asked her to pick up some more wrappers. I will be wrapping coins and getting them ready to take to the bank to get cash for them. This will go towards rent and such!
Victoria got a full-time job! Woohoo go her! haha The best part is that with my total that I would earn by the time that I would move out there according to my chart was enough for atleast two months rent and food. But I am working more and more hours over that so my total goes up. And now she has a job and she will have that much more money to put into it. And when we move into the apartment that we decide upon, she will already have a job and I will have enough money saved to take the time to find a job that won't kill me to work as many hours as I would like to.
I have so much to do before the week in April that Chad and I planned to visit so we could perform at the talent "showcase" at IUP. Due to possible job interference, Chad may not be able to make the trip in which case I may take Greyhound out to IUP.
I have to go through every item that I own and decide what I would want in our apartment now, what I want to keep for a future home that has more space and things that I will want to have for future children, and what things I want to get rid of. We will come back here to have a yard sale and sell what we can for more money. This money will go into the bank to help pay for whatever we need to pay off. Anything that isn't sold I may give to the Salvation Army and maybe hold some things to try to sell again another time.
This weekend, Victoria's parents picked her up to go to their place. She is taking almost everything from her dorm home. She will go through her clothes and things much as I will and decide the same things I need to decide about my stuff. We will hold a sale out there before we have one here and then we can bring anything that doesn't sell out there with us and try to sell it here.
This will help us both get rid of things that we won't need and to make some extra money off of it. =0) I may feel badly about some of the decisions....I may have to get rid of some things that will be difficult to part with. But if it isn't needed now or at some point in the future, then it would be worth selling it for the money. If it doesn't sell, then I can think about keeping it instead of giving it away.
So this weekend is packed with videos, recording and practicing songs with Chad, wrapping coins, sorting and pricing items that I own, and working on the two sites that I need to get up soon.
I am off to take care of these things, but I will be back. Oh yes, I will =0)
Take care.
