Jerry Springer's Show Makes Me Think
February 08, 2006 | 11:19 A.M.
Alright. So I watch Jerry Springer. I won't be too ashamed of it. I guess it somehow makes me feel better about myself some how. And I've learned a few things from the show. The first thing I've learned from it is that if someone invites you to be on the show, you say no. If you somehow give in and go on the show, wear clothing that is appropriate to fighting. Too many people wear clothing that is totally inappropriate and gets ripped off within 30 seconds after an inevitable fight breaks out.
Another thing I've learned..well actually that I wonder about are these situations that are usually encountered atleast once per episode: a man (but not always a man but will be for the purpose of this example) will be cheating on his wife/longtime girlfriend with another woman. He will tell her. Then the "other girl" comes out. 95% of the time this other woman will be the best friend of the man's significant other. And then 98% the other woman will flaunt to his significant other that they love him and want them to break up. She will say that he loves her and that they should be together.
Now this strikes me as moronic. Even if he did love the other woman enough to leave his significant other, why would he not do it to the other woman in the future? I, for one, would most likely be wracked with jealousy whenever they are a little late for something. I would do my best to not allow jealousy to overwhelm me, but that is literally just asking for it. You don't need something in a relationship where you would say to your significant other, "Well that's how we ended up together!", that's just asking for trouble down the line. It's like waiting around for them to trade up to the latest model.
There's the social commentary for today.
So anyway: I am still looking for a second job. Yup, need one. I mean, paying $450/month isn't bad for rent but with what I am making right now, I won't be eating but a couple of days per month as my current monthly earnings would leave me about $180 per month for everything. Help!
Things are moving along quite well with the band. We've booked at a clun where we've all wanted to play. Well it's on the second, smaller stage at the club but if we bring in enough people it can help guarantee us a slot on the big stage. And if not, then we'll look into it again after we have more of a following. But hey, it's still plenty for us to get excited over. It isn't until March 11th but we will probably play some open mic's in Philly before then to work ourselves up to it.
Now I'm just waiting for Chad to call. He had jury duty but he plans on coming here after. The band wrote their parts of a new song at the practice that I had to miss due to work on Sunday. He's going to play his part so that I can work on a few ideas for my parts so that I've got a headstart for next Sunday. But I've been promised that I will love this song. So I am excited to see how it sounds and what I can add to it. Should be pretty sweet! I am going to go see what I can get done before he comes over. but I'll be back soon!
Have a great day!
