Sometimes, you just want to know.
December 18, 2002 | 8:23 A.M.
My eyes burn like there is some unholy snadpaper wedged in them which makes them ultimately hurt more whenever I blink.
I got home from work around 4:25am and proceeded to fall asleep. I got about 3 hours of sleep when the alarm woke me up. I would be sleeping, but I have plans and sleep can wait.
My mom's check came in the mail yesterday instead of today (for once I give props to the US Postal Service..for now anyway) so I have to go cash it and do shopping.
If I slept now and set the alarm for a couple of hours, I would most likely not be awakened by the alarm and would miss my hours to shop.
Due to work, this is pretty much my last day to do Christmas shopping. And it's only my second day as we didn't have any money to shop before this point really.
But I can nap after shopping and wrapping. Vicky will get home after work and I think we are going to try to watch The Fellowship of the Rings again before we go to see The Two Towers tonight! I am so excited to see it which is also causing some trouble sleeping. But by the time I am done facing the Christmas shopping crowd for a couple of hours, I am sure that I will be more-than-ready to sleep.
I have to take my DVD of TFotR for one of my bosses to see. I promised that he could borrow it the next night we worked together and luckily it's tomorrow night from 10pm til 6am because that way we can watch it before the movie tonight to make sure that we are where we should be for the second installation.
This morning wasn't so bad at work. I didn't start until midnight and I worked until 4am. They had me in there to help handle the extra load and for an hour and a half, it was a VERY good thing that I had been there. We were getting our asses kicked. But we got through it.
After that, it seemed to calm down. I got everything done that was left to be done before I had to leave for the day. I helped Kristina (the night manager of which I am not too fond) hang Special Olympics plaques that the store had won over the years. We sponsor the Special Olympics in our area and always raise the most money. And not all the plaques from over the years had been hung so we put them up.
I am proud to be working for a company that actually does something valuable for the community. Burger King worries about nothing but themselves...not even their workers.
BK gives nothing to its workers for Christmas. Last night, my boss (who was the one to inform me that she will try her best to make it so that I won't have to work Christmas night, but will also give me the hours on another night so that I don't end up losing those hours which is very helpful) gave each worker a present.
The women got a winter basket full of candy, some Christmas ornaments and some other things. I got a bag loaded with some good stuff. I got a cute mug with a great shade of blue (of course that's my thing) and snowflakes on it. The mug contains a snowman Ziploc baggie full of M&M's. There was another snowman Ziploc baggie chock full of candy canes and various miniature Hershey's chocolates. Damned delicious...can't wait to get into them at some point.
And there was a wrapped gift in it. It turned out to be a 13 piece screwdriver set. VERY nice. All different kinds. Craftsman! Very strong! Guaranteed for life! Made in America! We needed more around here, we had two screwdrivers and when I put both of the computer desks together those months ago, I had to hold the screwdrivers on weird angles to get them to fit into the notches on screws that were too small for the size of the head of the screwdrivers we had.
Another manager came in the other night and bought 35 $5 phone cards and 35 instant win tickets. I think she is going to distribute them to the workers. I am not positive about that, but it certainly seems to be her motive. She is the one who interviewed me those few months ago and seemed eager to hire me.
Cool people.
Merry Early Christmas.
Yes, that horrible itching, burning, tingling, searing sensation continues in my eyes. They want to close, but I won't let them.
I was thinking that that might be a segue into something else, but you know what? It was a dead end. It didn't lead to any other thoughts. Perhaps my mind is too sleepy to play the thinking game right now.
Ahh the cross-state job search continues. As soon as we can find something well-paying enough, we can move back and I can assume my position of Lead Guitarist for Abigail's End.
Tom and I have been discussing an idea that I had for quite some time. We both design sites, we both mess with computers, and we both want to run our own servers.
We figured that we could work our jobs, work on songs as a band, and also start a computer repair business. I already have tools from my computer classes in college. I figured we could put some ads out stating that we will make housecalls if your computer needs some fixing, or it can be brought in to us. Once that starts taking off, we want to look into getting government "small business starting grant". The government gives grants to small businesses that they think have a great chance of succeeding in order to help promote self-started, personal businesses. And most of these need not be paid back.
We would also be doing web design and such for money and continue my company "Enteraction Design". Once we have the capital, we would buy some servers and a connection to the Internet Backbone and host sites for money.
The band and the dream job...running my own business doing what I enjoy doing. *drools* haha
Well that's about it for now. I killed enough time before the bank opens so I can cash the check and get some shopping in.
Happy First Day of The Two Towers Being in Theaters Day!
See ya later.
